1. In general

This website (pharmadetox.eu) is the information website of the LIFE PHARMA-DETOX project, co-funded by the LIFE Programme of the European Union. It is an informational project website: it does not sell products or services, it has no e-shop, no user accounts and no ordering process.

Data controller: Medochemie Ltd, coordinating beneficiary of the LIFE PHARMA-DETOX project, 1-10 Constantinoupoleos Street, 3011 Limassol, Cyprus. Telephone: +357 25852229. Contact person: Mr Christakis Sergides. E-mail: [email protected].

In compliance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and the applicable national implementing legislation, the LIFE PHARMA-DETOX project manages any personal data submitted by the USER with the utmost care, ensuring in any case their protection and privacy. The USER may browse this website without providing any personal data: data are collected only when the USER chooses to send a message through the contact form or to subscribe to the project newsletter.

2. What data we collect and when

a. Contact form. Name, e-mail address, telephone (optional) and the content of the message. The message is sent by e-mail to the project address and is used solely to reply to the enquiry. Legal basis: the USER consent, given by ticking the consent box in the form.

b. Newsletter. E-mail address and, optionally, name and country. The subscription is handled through Mailchimp (Intuit Inc.). Legal basis: consent. Every newsletter contains an unsubscribe link, and the USER may also ask to be removed at [email protected].

c. Statistics. Google Analytics 4, loaded through Google Tag Manager, records anonymous usage data (pages viewed, approximate region, device and browser type, source of the visit). These scripts run only after the USER accepts cookies in the consent banner. Legal basis: consent.

d. Spam protection. The forms are protected by Google reCAPTCHA v3, which evaluates the behaviour of the browser in order to distinguish human visitors from automated submissions. Legal basis: the legitimate interest of the project in protecting its forms from abuse.

e. Technical and security records. The hosting server and the security plugin (Wordfence) keep access and error records which include the IP address, the time of the request and the browser identification, in order to keep the website available and to block attacks. Legal basis: legitimate interest.

f. Embedded videos. The Project Videos page embeds videos hosted on YouTube (Google). When such a page is opened, YouTube may receive the IP address of the USER and set its own cookies.

The project does not collect data relating to orders, purchases, payment cards, competitions, prize draws, registered accounts or telephone and internet service activations, and does not create user profiles for advertising.

3. Use of the data

LIFE PHARMA-DETOX will use the personal data of the USER solely for the purposes described in this Policy. No personal data beyond those necessary for the stated purpose are collected or processed. If the project intends to use personal data which are processed on the basis of consent for a purpose other than the one disclosed in that consent, it undertakes to inform the USER in advance and, where the processing is based on consent, to use the data for the new purpose only with the relevant permission of the USER.

Personal data are not sold, rented or disclosed to third parties, except for the service providers listed in section 7 which act on behalf of the project, and except where disclosure is required by law.

4. Newsletter and project communications

In order to disseminate the results of the project, LIFE PHARMA-DETOX sends newsletters and information about the project to those who have subscribed to its newsletter. These messages concern the project only. The project does not use personal data for advertising, does not run advertising campaigns and does not use remarketing or ad-targeting cookies.

The USER may unsubscribe at any time through the link at the bottom of every newsletter or by writing to [email protected].

5. Legal obligations

LIFE PHARMA-DETOX may need to use and retain personal data for legal and compliance purposes, such as the prevention, detection or investigation of unlawful acts, the prevention of fraud or misuse of its services and IT systems, the reporting and audit obligations that arise from the grant agreement of the project, as well as information security purposes or the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.

6. Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on the device of the USER which allow a website to operate correctly, to remember choices and to collect statistical data. Cookies do not damage the device of the USER and give no access to its files.

The cookies used on this website are:

Strictly necessary cookies — the cookie that stores the cookie choice of the USER (cookie_notice_accepted), the Polylang language cookie (pll_language) and, where applicable, the session cookie of Google reCAPTCHA. They are required for the website to function and are not used for any other purpose.

Statistics / performance cookies — the cookies of Google Analytics 4 (_ga and _ga_*), which show which pages are visited and how the website is used. The information is aggregated and is not used to identify the visitor. These cookies are set only if the USER accepts them.

Third-party cookies — YouTube may set its own cookies on the pages where a video is embedded.

This website does not use advertising or remarketing cookies.

How the USER controls cookies. On the first visit, a banner asks the USER to accept or decline cookies. Until a choice is made, the statistics scripts remain blocked. The choice can be changed at any time by deleting the cookies of this website from the browser settings; the banner then appears again on the next visit and the choice can be made anew. The USER may also set the browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari) to refuse cookies or to notify them before a cookie is stored; if the strictly necessary cookies are refused, some parts of the website may not work properly.

Additionally, the USER may deactivate the collection of data by Google Analytics in every website by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, and may review and change the data that Google keeps for them through Google My Ad Center.

7. Service providers and third parties

For the operation of the website the project uses the following service providers, which process data on its behalf or as independent controllers for their own services:

  • Google Ireland Ltd / Google LLC — Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics 4, reCAPTCHA, YouTube.
  • Intuit Inc. (Mailchimp) — sending of the project newsletter.
  • The hosting provider of the website — storage and operation of the website.
  • Defiant Inc. (Wordfence) — security of the website.

Some of these providers are established outside the European Economic Area. In such cases the transfer takes place on the basis of the adequacy decision of the European Commission for the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and/or of the standard contractual clauses of the European Commission.

This website may also contain links to websites which are not related to LIFE PHARMA-DETOX. Those websites have their own privacy terms, for which the project bears no responsibility.

8. Processing of children’s personal data

LIFE PHARMA-DETOX does not collect and does not process personal data of children under the age of 16, unless a parental consent has been given in accordance with the applicable national law. If it comes to the attention of the project that personal data of a child were collected in error, they will be deleted without undue delay.

9. Special categories of data

The project does not collect and does not seek special categories of personal data (data revealing racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, trade union membership, genetic or biometric data, data concerning health, sex life or sexual orientation). The USER is kindly asked not to include such data in the messages sent through the website.

10. Correction, modification or deletion of data

The USER may at any time ask for the correction, completion or deletion of the data which they have submitted, by sending an e-mail to [email protected]. For the protection of the USER, the project will take reasonable steps to confirm that the person making the request is the data subject. Requests concerning the newsletter can also be carried out directly by the USER through the unsubscribe link of each message.

11. Rights of the USER

As a data subject, the USER has specific legal rights regarding their personal data. LIFE PHARMA-DETOX will respect those rights and deal adequately with any relevant concern:

  • Right to withdraw consent: where the processing is based on consent, the USER may withdraw it at any time; the withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of the processing carried out before it.
  • Right of rectification: the USER may request the correction of inaccurate personal data concerning them, and the project makes reasonable efforts to keep the data it holds accurate, complete and up to date.
  • Right of restriction of processing: the USER may request the restriction of the processing where (i) the accuracy of the data is contested, for the period needed to verify it, (ii) the processing is unlawful and the USER opposes erasure and requests restriction instead, (iii) the data are no longer needed by the project but are required by the USER for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims, or (iv) the USER has objected to the processing, for the period during which the project verifies whether its legitimate interests override those of the USER.
  • Right of access: the USER may request information about the personal data held, including the categories of data, the purposes of the processing, the source of the data and the recipients to whom they have been disclosed, and may receive a copy of their data free of charge. The project reserves the right to charge a reasonable fee for any further copies.
  • Right to data portability: where the processing is based on consent or on a contract and is carried out by automated means, the USER may ask to receive their data in a structured, commonly used format or to have them transmitted to another controller, where this is technically feasible.
  • Right to erasure: the USER may request the erasure of their personal data without undue delay where (i) the data are no longer necessary for the purposes for which they were collected, (ii) the USER objects to further processing and there is no overriding legitimate ground, (iii) the processing was based on consent and that consent is withdrawn with no other legal basis remaining, or (iv) the data have been unlawfully processed. The right does not apply where the processing is necessary for compliance with a legal obligation of the project or for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.
  • Right to object: the USER may at any time object to the processing of their personal data on grounds relating to their particular situation, where the processing is based on the legitimate interest of the project or of a third party. In that case the project will no longer process those data unless it can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds which override the interests of the USER, or the processing is necessary for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.
  • Right to lodge a complaint: see section 14.

12. Special highlights

  • Timeframe: the project will seek to satisfy any relevant request of the USER within 30 days. The time limit may be extended where the request is particularly complex, in which case the USER will be informed.
  • Restriction of access: in some cases the project may not be able to give access to all or part of the personal data of the USER because of legal provisions. If such a request is refused, the USER will be informed of the reasons.
  • Identification: in some cases the project may not be able to locate the personal data of the USER on the basis of the identifiers provided in the request. Where the USER cannot be identified as the data subject, the project is unable to act on the request unless additional information allowing identification is provided.
  • Exercise of the rights: requests are submitted in writing by e-mail to [email protected].

13. Retention of the data

Messages sent through the contact form are kept for as long as is necessary to handle the enquiry and, where relevant, for the reporting obligations of the project. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until the USER unsubscribes. Statistical data are kept for the retention period configured in Google Analytics. Technical and security records are kept for a short period, as determined by the hosting provider and the security plugin. Where personal data are no longer necessary for the purposes for which they were collected, they are deleted, unless their retention is required by law.

14. Complaints

If the USER considers that the processing of their personal data infringes the applicable legislation, they may lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority: the Office of the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection of the Republic of Cyprus (www.dataprotection.gov.cy), or with the data protection authority of the Member State of their habitual residence or place of work.

15. Changes to this Policy

LIFE PHARMA-DETOX reserves the right to amend this Privacy Policy. Any change applies from the moment the revised Policy is published on this website. For any question regarding the protection of personal data, the USER may contact [email protected].
